Police And Emergency Services Go Head To Head

13 February 2019

Thousands of Victorian police and emergency service workers will have the chance to show off their skills on the sporting field next month at the 2019 Victoria Police and Emergency Services Games.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Lisa Neville today visited the MCG to help launch the games, which will see 3000 police officers, firefighters, paramedics, lifesavers, corrections officers, customs officers and other emergency services workers compete at venues across the state from the 22nd until the 31st of March.

The launch included an abseiling demonstration from Victoria Police, SES, CFA, and the MFB, who rappelled down from one of the grandstands at Australia’s most well-known sporting arena.

The annual event, supported by the Andrews Labor Government, gives law enforcement and emergency services personnel from across Victoria an opportunity to spend time away from the more serious side of their work.

Victoria’s police and emergency services workers perform critical and life-saving work day in, day out, and deserve to be recognised for the contribution they make to our community.

Ms Neville also presented the 2018 Inter-Services Trophy to the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority, whose team received the highest number of points at last year’s games.

Police and emergency services workers who want to sign up and get involved in the 2019 games can visit emergencyservicesgames.org.au for more information.
