The Andrews Labor Government will build a pedestrian crossing on Gaffney Street in Pascoe Vale in an investment that will deliver a safer and more accessible path to and from Pascoe Vale Station for commuters.
Funded as part of the Victorian Budget 2022/23, $350,000 will be dedicated to the development of Gaffney Street between Cumberland Road and Pascoe Vale Station, with project scoping investigations set to begin this month and continue for 12 months.
Investigations will include stakeholder consultation to ensure the project delivered is a good fit for the community.
The Labor Government has invested $21.8 million into the planning and delivery of a range of active transport initiatives across the state as part of the Victorian Budget 2022/23.
The projects funded include the development and planning of new cycling corridors, safer pedestrian connections, and secure bicycle parking at train stations.
These projects will help to deliver safer, continuous active transport networks across the state and give more people the option to ride or walk to help reduce congestion for those who need to drive.
Active transport continues to be a major part of the Labor Government’s economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with several projects under way that introduce or improve cycling and walking options across Victoria.
