Attorney-General, Martin Pakula today announced the appointment of My Anh Tran and Sharon Burchell as judicial registrars within the Commercial Division of the County Court.
The first judicial registrars to be appointed to the County Court, Ms Tran and Ms Burchell will play an important role in improving efficiency and timeliness within the court, assisting judges to ensure it operates smoothly.
Ms Tran brings more than 14 years of legal experience to the role, having graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne in 1998.
Since signing the Bar Roll in 2002, she has practiced in a range of areas including insurance law, superannuation law, property law, insolvency, mediation and settlement negotiations.
Ms Burchell signed the Bar Roll in 2004 and has experience in commercial law, constitutional law, immigration and intellectual property.
In 2014, Ms Burchell sat on the Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry board, representing the Hazelwood mine operators.
In the same year, she was also the recipient of The Junior Counsel Award, which recognises the outstanding contributions to the legal profession of female barristers within their first 10 years of practice at the Bar.
