Victorian musicians, music businesses and organisations will have a new home to generate and showcase talent, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in the newly built Music Market, which opened in Collingwood today.
The $2.5 million Music Market will provide event, performance and collaboration spaces in addition to education, co-working and conference facilities to support Victoria’s burgeoning and established artists.
The unique hub will be an essential space for musicians and industry workers looking for opportunities to collaborate, develop skills, build businesses and start careers.
Music Market has landed in the state’s music precinct, with Collingwood Yard already housing the Victorian Music Development Office, Music Victoria, The Push, Songlines, PBS FM and other key music Industry organisations.
Operated on behalf of the Labor Government by the Victorian Music Development Office, Music Market is proud to deliver a welcoming space for First Nations Womxn in Music, supporting and empowering First Nations trans-women, non-binary, gender fluid and female artists.
The innovative space is part of the Government’s $22 million Music Works initiative, which has delivered programs including the Australian Music Vault and Victorian Music Development office.
Music Works was boosted with an additional $10.8 million in the 2021/22 Victorian Budget, providing continued support and investment in the recovery and future of Victoria’s music industry.
