More women will soon have a place to call home thanks to Labor’s investment in social housing.
Minister Staikos today announced works are now underway on a new development in the Mornington Peninsula.
The $4.5 million project in Hastings is being delivered by the Labor Government with Women’s Property Initiatives.
The seven homes will go to women on the priority housing list, ensuring those who need homes the most can stay connected to their community.
The new one and two-bedroom homes will be modern and energy efficient.
This means residents will be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, while also saving on power bills.
The project is close to schools, shops, public transport, and other essential services.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has provided the site to Women’s Property Initiatives on a long-term peppercorn lease.
This project in Hastings is part of Labor’s $6.3 billion Big Housing Build and Regional Housing Fund.
We’re delivering more than 13,300 social and affordable homes across Victoria – with more than 12,200 homes already complete or underway.
On the Mornington Peninsula alone, more than $29 million has been invested through social housing programs to build 74 new social and affordable homes, with 54 of these already completed.
