The Sandown Cobras will be able to recruit more players than ever before thanks to new facilities unveiled at Edinburgh Reserve.
Minister for Sport, John Eren, today officially opened the transformed pavilion that will give the club bigger and better change facilities, modern amenities, an umpires’ area and a medical room.
Edinburgh Reserve’s pavilion was built in 1962, and the rapidly expanding club has outgrown its original facility. The newly-transformed pavilion offers a more welcoming environment for juniors and women, who are joining community sport in record numbers.
The Sandown Cobras are home to more than 100 players, and the club is keen to keep growing. The rejuvenated Edinburgh Reserve provides players from the Auskick ranks to the senior Cobras outfit with the facilities they deserve. It’s good news too for the Parkmore Pirates Junior Football Club and the Sandown Park Cricket Club.
Venues like Edinburgh Reserve connect our suburbs and towns, giving families the chance to socialise and kids the experiences that stay with them for life.
The Labor Government’s investment gives the Cobras and the Pirates the opportunity to host more training sessions and stage big events, like fundraisers or footy finals.
The project was funded in partnership with the City of Greater Dandenong and AFL Victoria.
