Keilor East and Niddrie locals will soon benefit from new and extended bus services thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Public Transport Melissa Horne joined Member for Niddrie Ben Carroll to announce the bus network changes to meet growing demand in the area, beginning July 2020.
The changes will see buses service the Valley Lake Estate for the first time, providing more people with a bus within walking distance of their house – making it easier for locals to get where they need to go.
The Route 501 Moonee Ponds to Niddrie via Strathmore will be extended via Valley Lake and renamed Route 469 Moonee Ponds to Keilor East via Airport West.
The changes introduce a two-way service through Keilor East to Milleara Shopping Centre which means for the first time passengers riding to the shops will be able to catch the bus for their journey home.
Changes will also take place on Route 476 services from Moonee Ponds to Plumpton via Keilor and Watergardens, with the buses to run via Mary Street and Hoffmans Road and terminate at Watergardens Station.
To reduce duplication of services Routes 469 and 476 will replace the Route 475 service.
The Labor Government will also introduce four new school special routes, servicing Rosehill Secondary College, Buckley Park College, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar and Essendon Keilor College.
Timetables will be available online from June 2020 at or on the PTV app.
