The World’s Best Gymnasts To Head To Victoria

The Andrews Labor Government has secured the Gymnastics World Cup for Melbourne.

Acting Minister for Tourism and Major Events Philip Dalidakis announced today Hisense Arena will host a stop on the Individual Apparatus World Cup circuit for men’s and women’s artistic gymnasts next year.

The event will feature some of the world’s best gymnasts from 15 countries, all vying for top honours at one of our world-class arenas.

Athletes from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will converge on Melbourne for the much-anticipated event.

Victorians love their gymnastics and fans of the sport enjoy watching the big events in Victoria. The Gymnastics World Cup is set to attract visitors from all over Australia and the world – and that’s great news for the state’s economy.

Major events aren’t just great spectacles for Victorians, they’re big drivers of visitation, which keeps hotels and shops full, bars bustling and tourism operators busy – which is good for jobs and economic activity.

The FIG International Apparatus World Cup Series will be held on 22-25 February .
