World Class Leaders In Public Health Honoured

Victoria’s world class public health services have been honoured for outstanding excellence and innovation at the 2016 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards.

Nineteen awards were presented tonight in a gala awards ceremony that celebrated the achievements and contribution of healthcare professionals and organisations across Victoria.

Now in their 12th year, the awards recognise those delivering the very best care and support for all Victorians.

They are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible work of our skilled and dedicated doctors, nurses and health professionals, programs and initiatives that make Victoria’s health system truly world class.

Recipients of the most prestigious Premier’s Health Service of the Year awards are:

  • Premier’s Primary Health Service of the Year – Winner: Sunbury Community Health. Finalists: Banyule Community Health and cohealth
  • Premier’s Small Health Service of the Year – Winner: Rural Northwest Health. Finalists: Kyneton District Health and West Wimmera Health Service
  • Premier’s Medium Health Service of the Year – Winner: East Grampians Health Service. Finalists: Echuca Regional Health and Wimmera Health Care Group
  • Premier’s Large Health Service of the Year – Winner: The Royal Women’s Hospital. Finalists: The Royal Children’s Hospital and Western Health.

Other award categories recognise health services for improving indigenous health, supporting better mental health and improving hospital performance.

Excellence in improving equity, clinical research, women’s health, workforce wellbeing, quality and safety, community engagement, CALD health, children’s health, cancer care, LGBTI health, alternative care and aged care are also recognised.
