Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today helped turn the first sod at the $5.6 million Rosanna Golf Links Primary School refurbishment.

Rosanna Golf Links Primary was allocated funding in the 2014-15 Victorian Budget for modernisation work, including construction of two new classroom blocks and an administration area, and improvements to the school’s library and deaf facilities.

Mr Merlino said the funding would help Rosanna Golf Links Primary meet expected enrolment growth while creating a world-class inclusive school environment for deaf and hearing-impaired students.

Rosanna Golf Links Primary has grown from 288 students in 2010 to 495 this year, and is expected to grow to more than 575 over the next four years.

In making Victoria the Education State, the Andrews Labor Government will provide access to a great education for every child, in every classroom, in every community.

The Budget invested almost $4 billion in Victoria’s education and skills system – representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history.

Rosanna Golf Links Primary will also benefit from a boost to its equity funding this year, receiving $15,320 this year compared to nothing in 2015, as part of the Labor Government’s 70 per cent boost to equity funding.

The Rosanna Golf Links Deaf Facility was established in 1996 to give children who are deaf or hearing-impaired access to an inclusive mainstream education.

Architect Brand Architects was appointed to the project, alongside builder WP Contractors, engineers Wallbridge & Gilbert and Cundall, and surveyors DDH Quantity Surveyors.
