Victorian Baby Formula Bound For China

22 September 2015

Minister for Industry, Lily D’Ambrosio, has helped launch a new range of baby formula that will be exported to China from a manufacturing plant in Melbourne’s west.

Ms D’Ambrosio has toured the Derrimut manufacturing facility where the Omniblend Nourish Premium infant formula is made.

The company is expected to export up to 2.5 million tins of infant formula in the first 12 months.

The Andrews Labor Government has identified food and fibre as one of six high-growth sectors to drive Victoria’s economic growth as part of its $200 million Future Industries Fund, which will be launched later this year.

Other high-growth sectors include medical technology and pharmaceuticals, new energy technology, transport, defence and construction technology, international education and professional services.

The Future Industries Fund will play an active role in working with business experts and workers to grow Victoria’s traditional industries and invest in emerging sectors.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Industry, Lily D’Ambrosio:

“Innovation is critical to Victoria’s future economic prosperity and companies such as Omniblend Nourish are making a great contribution in that space.”
