Nicolab has opened its Australian and New Zealand headquarters in Victoria, backed by Labor’s Victorian Investment Fund.
The world-leading Dutch medtech company has chosen Melbourne as its base for its Asia-Pacific expansion.
The facility includes a new research and development centre, creating 20 high-skilled jobs.
Nicolab will develop new lifechanging AI tools to help hospitals assess and treat strokes faster and more accurately.
Its StrokeViewer technology reduces serious strokes assessment times from hours to just minutes.
The platform combines AI-powered stroke imaging analysis with collaboration tools.
Doctors can securely send medical images, discuss diagnoses and coordinate care from any device.
This means faster treatment decisions when every second counts, including strokes caused by blocked blood vessels and bleeding in the brain.
The platform already supports around-the-clock specialist stroke expertise for patients in regional Victoria.
This will also strengthen stroke services, giving regional and remote communities better access to specialist care.
From its new Melbourne headquarters, Nicolab will partner with Victorian industry, universities and health services.
Nicolab's investment in Victoria aligns with Labor Government’s AI Mission Statement.
The AI Mission Statement sets a bold vision for Victoria to lead the nation in the responsible adoption of AI.
Labor’s $150 million Victorian Investment Fund is attracting high-value investments that create jobs and drive economic growth.
