Acting Premier James Merlino has today warmly welcomed the announcement that Mr Joseph R Biden Jr, Vice President of the United States of America will visit Melbourne this month, as part of his visit to Australia.
In Melbourne, the Vice President will visit the new state-of-the-art Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre to highlight US-Australia co-operation on cancer research.
The Vice President serves as chairman of the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative, launched by President Barack Obama to accelerate cancer research and international collaboration.
Whilst in Melbourne, the Vice President will also visit Boeing’s factory to see firsthand the contribution Victorian expertise is making on Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner project.
The Vice President will arrive in Melbourne on Saturday July 16 and leave on Monday 18 July.
