Turning Up The Volume On The Australian Music Vault

10 August 2017

Australia’s music hall of fame will have a dedicated space in Melbourne when the Australian Music Vault opens later this year.

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley today announced a new partnership between Arts Centre Melbourne and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) that will see the ARIA Hall of Fame incorporated in the Australian Music Vault – a dynamic new space charting the story of Australian music.

The Australian Music Vault is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $22.2 million Music Works initiative. It will be a new drawcard for music lovers of all ages, bringing together exhibitions, digital and interactive experiences, and public and education programs.

Drawing on the rich pool of stories and items from leading Australian performers and music identities, and Arts Centre Melbourne’s extensive national performing arts collection, the Australian Music Vault will celebrate the people and events that have shaped – and continue to shape – contemporary Australian music.

The partnership with ARIA will see a special section focusing on ARIA Hall of Fame inductees with physical memorabilia and digital content, showcasing the careers and achievements of these Australian music icons.

The Australian Music Vault already has the backing of Australian music industry icons, with inaugural patrons Kylie Minogue, Ian “Molly” Meldrum, Archie Roach and Michael Gudinski announced last year.

The exhibition space and program is being developed by Arts Centre Melbourne in partnership with the music industry.

The Australian Music Vault will be completed at Arts Centre Melbourne later this year. For more information, visit australianmusicvault.com.au or follow #australianmusicvault.
