The Andrews Labor Government thanks Tim Cartwright APM for the work he has done during three years as the Family Violence Reform Implementation Monitor, as we work to end violence once and for all.
The position of Monitor was an important part of the Labor Government’s landmark Royal Commission into Family Violence to ensure the full implementation of the Commission’s family violence reform package.
The Labor Government has invested a record $2.6 billion as we work to implement all 227 recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence, to support victim survivors and end family violence.
We have achieved much over the past few years with the new support and safety hubs, perpetrator programs, new laws, specialist courts and relationships education in schools. We know there’s more to do – Tim’s work has ensured that we are on track to do just this.
During Tim’s time as Implementation Monitor he has provided independent oversight, bringing his 41 years of police force experience to bear in helping build better outcomes for victim survivors and the community.
When he completes his tenure in August he will have delivered two reports to influence and support the reform work which is already leading to improvements in the system and raised awareness of family violence.
The Government will start the process of recruiting a replacement for the Implementation Monitor, with his successor to be in place ahead of his departure later this year.
