Tango Energy has opened its new headquarters in Geelong in a major boost for local jobs and a big vote of confidence for local businesses in the region.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford officially opened the office today – made possible through support from the Andrews Labor Government.

The new head office will support the continued growth of the Tango Energy business – the retail arm of Pacific Hydro – and is expected to support 87 full-time-equivalent jobs in Geelong by 2021.

Located in the Federal Mills Park in North Geelong, the Tango Energy office is a superbly designed warehouse conversion, situated in one of several iconic heritage buildings in the complex.

The move will also see the company invest in a new online billing and customer service system, anticipated to create further jobs.

Founded in Melbourne in 1992, Pacific Hydro has developed energy projects in Australia for more than 25 years. Its retail electricity business, Tango Energy, was established in 2014.

The Labor Government is supporting projects like Tango Energy’s relocation through its $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund (RJIF), which focuses on building critical infrastructure, creating jobs, investing in communities and supporting new and emerging industries.

In just two years, RJIF has created and retained more than 4,600 jobs, leveraged $1.2 billion investment through 355 infrastructure and investment projects across 48 rural and regional local government areas.
