The Allan Labor Government is making it easier for families and children to explore the great outdoors through investments that will keep our parks across the state accessible and vibrant spaces.

Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos announced a $1.5 million investment that will see a series of upgrades and repairs to Parks Victoria visitor facilities – supporting outdoor reaction opportunities and parks beloved by local communities, outdoor enthusiasts and tourists.

At the popular Seawinds Gardens on Arthur’s Seat in Mornington Peninsula, families and their children will soon get to enjoy a new playground, while sailors and anglers at Lysterfield Lake will have improved access to the popular boat ramp. London Bridge on the Mornington Peninsula will also receive a new toilet block.

The Walhalla community will have their much-loved track to reopen with further track clearing and surfacing works at the Tramway & Australian Alpine Walking track, following a storm event that caused the track to close for public safety.

Other projects include campground upgrades for the Brisbane Ranges and Lerderderg, as well as major restoration work for two beloved heritage buildings in Maldon, the Beehive Chimney and Butts Reserve shelter.

A series of other repairs to toilets, barbecues, boardwalks, staircases and signage in parks from Mildura to Mallacoota will ensure they remain open, safe and clean for visitors.

Victoria’s parks offer many ways for people to get into nature and enjoy their favourite activities, with an abundance of breathtaking locations perfect for adventure lovers and thrill seekers.

Parks Victoria rangers manage more than 4 million hectares of public land and provide world-class camping facilities, tourism activities and conservation programs across Victoria.
