Supporting Multicultural Festivals And Events

28 June 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support multicultural and multifaith communities to share and celebrate their cultures and traditions through community festivals and events.

A total of 189 community organisations will share in $1.2 million in funding to deliver events between 1 July and 31 December 2022.

The funding comes as part of the Multicultural Festivals and Events program, which aims to promote social connection, encourages the sharing of cultures and traditions and helps to revitalise Victoria’s events industry.

More than half of the funding has been distributed towards 85 events that support new and emerging community organisations.

Events include SalamFest Muslim Arts Festival to promote Islamic artistic expression, Johnston Street Fiesta hosted by the Hispanic Latin American Festival & Cultural Association, Multicultural Ohi Day Celebration organised by the Association of Greek Elderly Citizens Clubs of Melbourne and Victoria and Diwali celebrations hosted by The Ballarat Indian Association.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested in more than 5,600 multicultural festival and events across Victoria – worth a total value of $22.9 million.
