The Andrews Labor Government has ordered a comprehensive review to examine the serious assault on Mr Anthony Mokbel and others on 11 February 2019.
I have appointed former New South Wales Court of Appeal Judge Justice David Ipp AO QC to lead the independent review which will examine a range of factors including the circumstances leading up to the assault.
Justice Ipp, a former Commissioner of the New South Wales Independent Commission Against Corruption, will be assisted by former Commissioner of Queensland Corrective Services Dr Mark Rallings.
If there are any learnings from the incident we stand ready to make them.
Justice Ipp and Dr Rallings will provide their final report to government by the end of April.
