The incident in Porepunkah today has devastated Victoria Police, the local community and all Victorians.

Every day our police members pull on their uniforms and uphold the oath they swore to protect Victorians – all day, all night – in all weather.

Tonight, two of our brave members won’t return home. They made the ultimate sacrifice.

I offer my deepest thoughts and sympathies to everyone affected by this horrific crime, and my utmost gratitude to the emergency services who are continuing to respond and investigate.

We stand ready to offer any support that Victoria Police and the town of Porepunkah need – they will not go through this alone.
