Reservoir East Primary School students will benefit from a host of new facilities at their school, thanks to the
Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Preston Robin Scott visited the school today to officially open the major upgrades made possible by a $6.8 million investment by the Labor Government.
The works included the demolition of outdated facilities, construction of a multi-purpose community
building as well as a general learning and administration building in their place. The modernisation project also included site landscaping and playground upgrades.
In addition, the school has been made more inclusive for children with disabilities and additional needs. Thanks to a $200,000 grant from the Labor Government’s Inclusive Schools Fund, two classrooms and external garden spaces have been remodeled to create a multidisciplinary hub.
The hub caters for students with varying social, emotional and sensory needs.
The $40 million Inclusive Schools Fund supports small, innovative building projects that make a big difference in meeting the educational and social needs of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.
The Fund was established by the Labor Government in 2015 and since then, more than 230 creative projects to build inclusive learning spaces, outdoor sensory areas and accessible playgrounds have been announced.
Under the Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school where they can achieve their best. The Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting more than 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
