Small Training Provider Of The Year Successes Celebrated

24 October 2019

The Andrews Labor Government has commended the outstanding achievements of Ringwood Training today as part of a visit to the campus to celebrate their win at this year’s 65th Victorian Training Awards.

Minister for Training and Skills and Higher Education Gayle Tierney visited Ringwood Training to see firsthand its successful training model which led to the centre taking out the top gong in the Small Training Provider of the Year category.

Ringwood Training delivers a unique government school training model, with practical hands-on and blended learning to prepare students for industry needs in the vital areas of automotive and engineering fabrication trades, and information communication technology.

Ringwood Training, set on a dedicated campus at Ringwood Secondary College, runs VET in Schools programs and nationally recognised training such as apprenticeships and traineeships.

School students can complete their schooling (VCE and VCAL), gain a VET Certificate and commence work as a school-based apprentice or trainee (SBAT). Post-school young people can complete an Apprenticeship or Traineeship and gather a portfolio of IT-related training.

Ringwood Training’s partnerships with industry have contributed to its creative and innovative approach to course development, and its cutting-edge technology for the engineering fabrication department and an automotive workshop stocked with varieties of vehicles and automotive systems has helped to enhance its course offering.

During the visit, Minister Tierney presented a Trade Paper to a recent graduate in Motor Mechanic (Light Vehicle) – awarded to those who successfully complete their formal training through an apprenticeship.

Since 2015, the Labor Government has invested more than $1.3 billion to rebuild our TAFE system and ensure students can get the skills they need for the jobs they want.
