Applications have opened for a new program to engage young people in promoting gender equality.
The Andrews Labor Government is funding the Foundation for Young Australians with $400,000 to run Ideally, a grants and mentoring program.
Ideally offers young Victorians the chance to create an ideal world for everyone. Grants are open to young Victorians between the ages of 15 to 24.
The program encourages creative approaches to equality, through art, sport, technology or other approaches. It will match grantees with a mentor and support them with training to make their vision a reality.
Ideally will help young people challenge gender stereotypes and promote equality and respect for all.
Quotes attributable to the Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins
“Young people bring a unique perspective to what equality and respect look like. Through this program we’re dismantling entrenched and outdated stereotypes.”
“This program is about asking young people to imagine the future they want for gender equality in Victoria, and supporting them to make that vision a reality.”
