Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Philip Dalidakis today celebrated the success of 14-year-old small business owner Isabella (Izzi) Dymalovski at the official launch of her natural skincare range, Luv Ur Skin.
Opening the launch at the business’s new warehouse in the Melbourne suburb of Brooklyn this morning, Mr Dalidakis congratulated the young entrepreneur on her recent achievements, applauding her innovative thinking to get the business off the ground and initiate a successful publicity campaign.
This includes landing her first major commercial deal with beauty giant Priceline in April this year, which now sees Luv Ur Skin products stocked in more than 365 stores nationwide, as well as appearing on Channel 10’s Shark Tank in mid-June to seek possible funds and mentoring from the show’s business experts.
Targeting the ‘tween’ market (8 - 14 years), Luv Ur Skin’s body and facial skincare products were developed to fill a gap in the market for chemical-free products appropriate for young teens.
As a dancer and singer from a young age, Izzi was often required to wear makeup when performing but her mum warned her against using the harsh, chemical-based makeup removers that were available to adults.
With the help of a chemist family friend, Izzi developed a prototype and experimented with a wide-range of natural ingredients, using them herself before making her products available for other young teens.
Luv Ur Skin’s launch is another success story for the state’s booming small business community. Victoria now leads the country in small business growth, with 9,000 created in the last year alone taking the state’s total to over 540,000.
