Works To Revamp St Arnaud Station Precinct

05 October 2016

Heritage works will be undertaken to restore St Arnaud’s station to its former glory, refurbishing the external fabric of the historic building.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan visited St Arnaud’s station today to outline the restoration works on the station’s heritage-listed buildings, built in 1878.

The works will include re-pointing brick work, internal flooring repairs, restoring wooden frames and installing new glass windows, gutters, downpipes and better drainage.

The project is part of VicTrack’s Community Use of Vacant Rail Buildings Program, which refurbishes Victoria’s historic rail buildings and opens them up for future community use.

Tenders for the foundation works under VicTrack’s $1 million annual Heritage Program will be advertised this month, and works are expected to start in 2017.

Successful contractors will work with the award-winning RBA Architects and Conservation Consultants. For more information, please visit victrack.com.auExternal Link .
