Wider And Safer Roads Thanks To Vital Upgrade Package

22 May 2019

Drivers in Victoria’s south west can now enjoy a smoother and safer journey with a package of road rebuilding and widening works now complete.

The Andrews Labor Government have invested $40 million to upgrade narrow roads across south-western Victoria – with the final three roads under that package recently completed.

The final roads to be upgraded include about 10 kilometres of Warrnambool-Caramut Road between Bromfield Road and the Hamilton Highway, about five kilometres of Coleraine-Edenhope Road between Mooree Culla Road and Harrow and just under a kilometre of Casterton-Apsley Road at Nangeela.

These roads have been rebuilt and widened to make them smoother, stronger and safer for the community.

Previously, these sections of road were too narrow and damaged for two cars to pass each other while still keeping their tyres on a sealed surface.

Now the road surface has been completely rebuilt and widened to a full lane in each direction, the drainage has been improved and new line marking has been installed.

Under the $40 million package, works have already been delivered on Foxhow Road, Skipton Road, Myamyn-Macarthur Road, Ayresford Road, Timboon-Nullawarre Road, Inverleigh-Winchelsea Road and Inverleigh-Shelford Road.
