We’re In This Together: Promoting Harmony In Victoria

21 July 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is using a new grants program to build greater community harmony and social cohesion, and ensure every Victorian feels valued.

The Community Harmony Grants Program supports partnerships, projects and initiatives that address the root causes of racial, ethnic and religious intolerance.

It aims to build respectful relationships and reaffirm the shared values that make us a stronger, safer and more harmonious community.

Every Victorian – regardless of their religion, ethnicity, skin colour, cultural identity, gender or sexuality – deserves to contribute and belong.

These values are embedded in the Labor Government’s new Multicultural Policy Statement – Victorian. And Proud of it.

Culturally and religiously-diverse communities are encouraged to develop initiatives that respond to the immediate issues challenging our state.

The 2017-18 round of grants open on Monday, 24 July. For information on how to apply, visit multicultural.vic.gov.au/grantsExternal Link

Quotes attributable to Acting Minister for Multicultural Affairs Gavin Jennings

“Every Victorian has something to contribute. When it comes to building a stronger, more resilient and diverse community – we’re all in this together.”

“These grants will help culturally and religiously-diverse communities across Victoria thrive. I encourage community groups and organisations to apply today.”
