The Andrews Labor Government is improving Victoria’s parks with the induction of 53 new Parks Victoria rangers to be assigned across Victoria.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio attended the induction at Inverloch – with the new rangers set to provide a vital boost to jobs and the local economy.
The Labor Government provided $20.4 million over four years, and $1.5 million in ongoing funding for the creation of 53 new ranger positions – 15 of which are based in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland – as well as an additional 15 corporate staff within Parks Victoria.
Almost one-in-five roles are filled by Aboriginal people or designated as roles for Aboriginal people – part of the Labor Government’s agenda to help more Aboriginal Victorians find work.
These positions were created as part of the Unlocking the benefits of parks for all Victorians initiative.
The Labor Government is improving conservation, upgrading infrastructure and boosting tourism and job opportunities in Victoria’s Parks.
