Warrnambool College Gets Funding Boost

18 May 2016

Planning for construction at Warrnambool College will soon get underway following a $4.6 million funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government in the Victorian Budget 2016/17.

Treasurer Tim Pallas today met students and staff at Warrnambool College to discuss plans for the school’s upgrade, which will modernise and upgrade the school’s ageing buildings.

The funding boost is part of an unprecedented $1.1 billion investment in school infrastructure, including a record $924 million for capital works and an extra $200 million for maintenance.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every student can get a great education, no matter where they live or what their background.

This starts with building, fixing and upgrading Victorian school infrastructure so students and teachers have the environment they need to achieve their best.

Throughout the state, hundreds of new school infrastructure projects, just like the one at Warrnambool College, are now set to get under way.

Warrnambool College also received a $323,451 equity funding boost this year to help give students the skills they need for work and life.

This increase is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Education State work to provide an extra $566 million to help schools break the cycle of disadvantage.
