Upgrades On The Way For The Basin Primary School

13 December 2019

Significant upgrades will soon get underway at The Basin Primary School, thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited school to announce $1.44 million for upgrade works on the school’s oval, to reinstate natural turf, address stormwater drainage, and landscape.

This is in addition to more than $330,136 recently allocated to the school through the $515 million Maintenance Blitz program. The program provides funding to every government school to enable them to undertake essential works, such as maintenance of essential infrastructure.

The Labor Government has already invested $7.9 million for a major school upgrade, which included new classrooms, gymnasium with competition-grade basketball and netball courts and new administration facilities.

It also included works at the Basin Community House with a new staff room, computer room, art room, toilet and kitchen that the whole community can use.

The Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades across the state, supporting over 7500 construction jobs for Victorians.

A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the government delivering 11 new schools across the state, due to open in 2020.
