Cycling enthusiasts will be able to catch the train to the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race this weekend after Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, and the Minister for Sport, John Eren, intervened to have planned works rescheduled to enable V/line services to run.
Coaches were to replace trains between Melbourne and Geelong/Warrnambool on Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February, due to works on the Werribee line near Newport.
However, out of consideration for the thousands of fans expected to flock to the Great Ocean Road this weekend to see Cadel Evans and the best of Australian cycling, Ms Allan and Mr Eren have intervened to ensure trains will run.
