It’s going to be a sweet summer in Timboon with new features for visitors at Timboon Fine Ice Cream and upgrades to the local streetscape now complete thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Danielle Green visited Timboon today to celebrate two projects funded by the Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund that are providing benefits to locals and visitors alike.
Timboon Fine Ice Cream has developed a new ice creamery and visitor centre in the heart of Timboon that provides an additional attraction for foodies and families traveling through the region.
The visitor centre includes a "Sundae School" where you can learn the history and science of ice-cream then churn some ice-cream and create your own sundae. It has been operating since last December and is already proving to be a winner for tourists, children, and groups.
The Labor Government’s contribution towards the project will help create 11 new jobs.
The Timboon Streetscape project has increased public open spaces and improved access for pedestrians between the town centre, nearby car parks, the Timboon Railway Park Precinct and rail trail.
New seating, picnic tables, bike racks, and a new grassed plaza area will encourage people to enjoy the town’s central area, visit the shops, and explore the ice creamery.
Corangamite Shire delivered the streetscape project with a $400,000 grant from the Regional Infrastructure Fund.
The Government is investing in initiatives to improve the Shipwreck Coast visitor experience and recently announced $5 million to implement early works on the Shipwreck Coast Master Plan.
The region attracts 2.6 million visitors a year and projects like the Timboon Fine Ice Creamery give visitors even more incentive to explore the hinterland.
