The Andrews Labor Government today announced the appointment of Alanna Duffy, Timothy Hoare and Constantinos Kilias to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.
Alanna Duffy has been a barrister since 2004, specialising mainly in employment and administrative law.
She is also a Deputy President of the Police Registration and Services Board, and Chair of the Harness Racing Victoria Appeals and Disciplinary Board.
From 2001–04 she was a Senior Associate with Gill Kane & Brophy Solicitors.
Ms Duffy has a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University.
Timothy Hoare has been a barrister for 18 years, specialising in criminal law. He has acted for the prosecution and defence in cases involving murder, culpable driving, drug offences and serious violent offending.
Prior to signing the Bar roll, Mr Hoare was an associate to Judge David Morrow of the County Court.
Mr Hoare has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne.
Constantinos Kilias has almost three decades’ experience as a barrister, mainly in criminal matters, appearing regularly in the Supreme, County and Magistrates’ courts, and in coronial inquests.
Prior to joining the Bar, Mr Kilias worked as a solicitor at Hall & Wilcox, Swersky McPhee, and Zervos & Co.
Mr Kilias has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.
Two of these appointments replace magistrates Rodney Crisp, who retired this month after 33 years of service, and Philip Ginnane, who became a judge of the County Court in September after seven years’ service at the Magistrates’ Court.
