I wish to announce that I will not be recontesting the seat of Tarneit in 2018.
I have been privileged to have been able to serve the people of Tarneit and more broadly the people of Victoria in various roles in the Parliament.
A lot has been achieved in the electorate of Tarneit and the western suburbs of Melbourne during the 17 years that I have been a local member. Together we have made significant gains in building infrastructure and services in health education and transport. I am proud to have been a part of those achievements.
I thank the Premier, my Parliamentary colleagues and the Australian Labor Party for the opportunity to serve. I thank my family and friends who have stood by me especially in recent times.
I look forward to continuing to work in the community in other roles after 2018 but always in pursuit of the same Labor working class values that have guided my life for decades.
