Sustainability Victoria To Welcome New Chairperson

01 March 2016

The Andrews Labor Government has appointed Heather Campbell as Chairperson of the board of Sustainability Victoria (SV).

Ms Campbell has more than 25 years of experience leading the management of environmental and sustainability issues and brings experience of Landcare, waste minimisation and energy efficiency.

Currently the CSIRO’s General Manager of Health Safety and Environment, Ms Campbell was the CEO of Landcare Australia for about three years and held executive and senior managerial roles with Amcor and Cheetham Salt spanning more than 20 years.

Ms Campbell also has extensive experience as a board director and advisory committee member across government, education and the not for profit sector.

Her appointment as Chairperson is for five years.

SV recently launched their new strategic plan, SV2020, which is a five year vision to help communities develop practical, local action on climate change, resource efficiency and waste.

SV2020 will support new job opportunities by having a strong focus on innovation, the development of new markets for recovered resources and encouraging investment in waste and resource recovery technologies and infrastructure.

The plan will be refreshed in 2016 under the guidance of Ms Campbell to ensure it effectively supports the government response to the Review of the Climate Change Act (2010) and the Victorian Climate Change Framework.

The strategy will deliver on the Andrews Labor Government's pre-election commitment to refocus SV to help the Victorian community respond to climate change.
