Supporting The Transition To The NDIS

28 June 2016

Victorians with a disability, their families and carers, and the sector are set to receive the targeted support they need to help them make the transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The Andrews Labor Government today announced the 16 organisations who will share in $10 million in funding to deliver readiness activities where they are needed most.

Minister for Disability, Martin Foley this morning joined Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines at mental health service provider Mind Australia – who recently won a national award for a program they will deliver under the NDIS.

The transition support has been allocated to a range of diverse organisations representing people with a disability, providers, carers, unions, service users and their advocates.

There is also representation from multiple disability fields among these organisations to reflect diversity in the sector.

The organisations who work throughout Victoria will identify and deliver practical and targeted resources to help people and providers adapt to the way the NDIS will work.

The NDIS is a big change for people with a disability that will be progressively rolled out across Victoria over the next three years, starting in north-east Melbourne from 1 July 2016.
