Supporting Jobs And Protecting Victorians With New Dozer Transport Vehicles

16 November 2016

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting local jobs and giving our firefighters the equipment they need ahead of the upcoming fire season.

Over the next five years, $12 million will be spent on 39 First Attack Dozer Transport Vehicles that are being built at IVECO's Dandenong South plant and at Caterpillar’s Laverton plant.

Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio visited IVECO today to inspect four of the First Attack Dozer Transport Vehicles coming off the production line.

The new vehicles play an important role in protecting Victorians by transporting an Attack Dozer to bushfire hotspots where it’s typically the first responder in an emergency.

On arrival the Attack Dozer is able to construct fire breaks at the face of the fire, while also clearing access tracks and roads to ensure that firefighters and other vital equipment can gain safe access to the area.

The transport vehicles can also be used outside of bushfire season to help undertake planned burning and land management activities.
