SuniTAFE Farewells Long Serving Chief Executive

10 June 2016

Minister for Training and Skills Steve Herbert has today congratulated retiring SuniTAFE CEO Win Scott on a distinguished career in regional vocational education and training.

In her time as CEO Ms Scott oversaw the completion of the $3.6 million Mildura campus redevelopment and the $2.6 million Swan Hill Learning Commons, both opened by Mr Herbert in March 2016.

She also oversaw the $1 million expansion of the trade wing at the Swan Hill campus and the $1.3 million environmental water saving initiative at the Mildura campus.

Ms Scott, who was CEO for 10 years, was a key driver in the development of the Institute’s asset management and campus master planning process, helping the institute continue its service provision to the community during challenging times.

She has provided SuniTAFE and incoming CEO Geoff Dea with a strong platform to advance the Institute into the future.

Mr Dea, who commences next Tuesday, already has strong links to SuniTAFE, having been a board member since 2013.

An accountant and local businessman, Mr Dea brings a deep understanding of the Institute’s future corporate direction.

His leadership and financial management skills have been developed through his previous role as CEO of local accountancy firm Crowe Howarth and most recently as Director Corporate Services at Mallee Family Care.

The Government supports the Board’s decision to appoint a local member of the community to the role and welcomes Mr Dea into the position.

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting SuniTAFE better meet the needs of students and align training with industry needs.

The Institute received $1.82 million from the TAFE Back to Work Fund and $2.9 million from the Government’s Community Service fund to support disadvantaged locals.
