Statement from the Premier

03 December 2014

On behalf of the Government of Victoria and the Parliamentary Labor Party, I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lynne Kosky, who passed away today aged 56.

Lynne was a passionate Labor reformer and a dedicated servant of our state and its people. Most of all, she was a good friend, a trusted colleague and a loving mother and partner.

During her time as a Minister in the Victorian Government, Lynne reshaped Victoria’s education system and made it fairer for students of all backgrounds and abilities.

As Transport Minister, she secured record funding for the improvement of Victoria’s public transport system and commenced the Regional Rail Link.

Her proudest work was fighting for families in her local community, as the Member for Altona. Born and raised in the West, Lynne served as Mayor of Footscray before her election to Parliament.

The thoughts and prayers of Catherine and I are with Lynne’s loved ones as they remember a brave woman who met her challenges head on, and a caring person who dedicated her life to making our society fairer.
