Rowsley Crossing Loop To Boost Ballarat Rail Services

06 June 2016

Construction of the Rowsley Crossing Loop is now complete, helping to deliver a more reliable service for passengers on the Ballarat line.

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan visited the new crossing loop to mark the completion of the project that will help V/Line trains recover from unexpected delays more quickly, boosting reliability and punctuality.

The installation of the crossing loop has reduced the distance between existing loops at Parwan and Bank Box, and gives trains the flexibility to make up time between these points.

The crossing loop supports the Andrews Labor Government’s $518 million investment in the Ballarat line to run more trains, more often to meet the growing demand.

The $518 million upgrade will duplicate the Ballarat line from Deer Park to Melton and build additional passing loops.

The project has also delivered critical safety improvements of the existing rail crossing at Rowsley Station Road, including new warning lights and boom gates.

These initiatives are on top of the extra services and carriages the Labor Government has already added to the Ballarat line, as well as the new carpark at Wendouree Station and the new station at Caroline Springs.

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with plans to improve the rail link between Ballarat and the rest of Victoria, improving liveability for residents and encouraging new business and investment.
