A Right Word At The Right Time Could Save Lives

09 February 2020

The Andrews Labor Government is taking action to help people make long-lasting health and lifestyle choices with the launch of a new preventative health campaign.

The Labor Government has partnered with Alfred Health to develop the 'Right Word. Right Time' campaign designed to put health professionals front and centre in raising the issue of preventive health with their patients.

Minister for Health Jill Hennessy today launched the campaign developed in response to research revealing that the majority of illness and death in Australia is due to chronic conditions that are mainly preventable.

It advocates that people can turn their lives around by making better health, wellbeing and lifestyle choices.

A right word from health care professionals at the right time can save lives by creating lasting change and helping people avoid chronic conditions that are mainly preventable.

Victoria is at the forefront in leading reform in disease prevention and early detection, and has invested in a range of prevention initiatives targeting specific areas such as tobacco reform, obesity, physical activity, sexual health, heart disease, vaccination investment, cancer screening and skin cancer prevention.

The Government is funding Alfred Health to support their efforts and other health services to deliver prevention initiatives in health services.
