Report Delivered On The Future Of Bendigo Metro Rail

07 August 2015

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan today received a report investigating the future delivery of Bendigo Metro Rail, a commuter train service for Bendigo, from the Bendigo Metro Rail Community Consultative Taskforce.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards chaired the Bendigo Metro Rail Community Consultative Taskforce which compiled the report recommending a staged approach to delivering the Bendigo Rail project.

The Andrews Labor Government thanks the independent taskforce for their work and will now consider the recommendations put forward.

The Government has already invested $2 million in Stage 1 works for the Bendigo Rail Project to support the growing population of Bendigo and its increasing demand for public transport.

The taskforce considered community feedback and existing public transport strategies, such as council land use and population planning documents, technical input from service providers and Public Transport Victoria’s review of the Bendigo bus network.
