Recovery Boost For The Scotsburn Community

02 September 2016

The Andrews Labor Government continues to support the Scotsburn community’s recovery from last year’s bushfire, with a $924,000 funding boost for landscape rehabilitation and a new community hub.

Minister for Emergency Services James Merlino today announced the additional funding while attending the Scotsburn Community Fire Planning Workshop.

At the workshop, Mr Merlino spoke with community members about the relief and recovery efforts following the bushfires that affected the area in December 2015.

The Labor Government will provide $624,000 to the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority to restore and revegetate bushfire affected areas. The CMA will work alongside the community and farmers to deliver this.

The Moorabool Shire Council will receive a $300,000 grant to deliver the Clarendon Community Hub Project, located on the Clarendon Recreation Reserve in Scotsburn.

The community hub will include a new building with kitchen facilities, a social area, additional toilets and amenities to cater for large community groups for a variety of activities.

The community has also secured in-kind labour of approximately $30,000 to assist with the redevelopment of the Clarendon Recreation Reserve.

Plans for the hub are part of the Clarendon Recreation Reserve Masterplan, developed by the Clarendon Recreation Reserve Committee in consultation with the community.
