Racetrack Reunion At Terang

21 December 2015

The past and present are set to converge at the Terang & District Racing Club (TDRC) this New Year’s Day when the club hosts a ‘Reunion at the Races’.

The club will unveil a Locals Enclosure at the reunion themed event with many current and former western district residents expected to join the festivities.

Local sporting clubs, schools and community groups will have the chance to reminisce and form new friendships, all while enjoying the races and viewing a historical display celebrating the town.

The club hopes to attract more than 2000 people to the track, with free return bus services running from Warrnambool, Mortlake and Terang.

Families and children can also participate in a range of Kelly Sports kids’ activities as part of Country Racing Victoria’s (CRV) Kid’s Summer of Country Racing campaign.

The Andrews Labor Government provided almost $7,000 towards the event courtesy of the Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF) Raceday Attraction Program (RAP). The TDRC also provided more than $7,500 and CRV $16,000.

Victoria is the proud leader of Australian racing, generating more than $2.8 billion in economic activity and supporting more than 26,500 full time jobs.

The VRIF returns unclaimed wagering dividends and on-course wagering taxes back to the industry and allows the three racing codes, racing clubs and other key stakeholders to have a say in growing Victorian racing.
