Racegoers Welcome Year Of The Monkey

03 February 2016

This year’s Chinese New Year celebrations are kicking off with a bang at a new and exciting Chinese New Year themed racing event at the Moonee Valley Racing Club.

Welcoming the Year of the Monkey, the event’s festivities on Friday 5 February offer a range of on-course entertainment and activities including flamethrowers, traditional and modern dance, and live music.

The event combines Chinese culture and food and will also feature a traditional dragon ceremony and fireworks display to culminate the night’s festivities.

The club is giving away lucky red packets as well as a thousand racebooks, available in English and Chinese and free showbags for the kids.

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the event with more than $57,000, courtesy of the Victorian Racing Industry Fund’s (VRIF) Raceday Attraction Program. Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) is also contributing $66,000 towards the event.
