Race Into The New Year With The Best Of The Bellarine

Racegoers will kick off 2017 in style with a day of high-quality racing, food and wine at this year’s Bellarine Cup, thanks to $49,000 in funding supported by the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today announced the Government is providing more than $29,000 towards the event, courtesy of its Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program.

Foodies and racing fans are set to flock to the event on 2 January as part of Geelong Racing Club’s bumper Summer of Racing festival, which runs until the end of January 2017.

The day will showcase Bellarine’s world-class food and wine, with the Tastes of the Bellarine enclosure featuring local drops, culinary delights, music from The Shandeliers, and children’s activities.

Well-known television personality Catriona Rowntree will host the Bellarine Cup luncheon for local businesses and guests on the day with popular local performer Zane Carroll on hand to entertain guests.

Children can enjoy the jumping castle, pony rides and face painting as they take in the excitement and fun of country racing in Geelong.

The Geelong Racing Club also contributing more than $17,800 towards the event, and is offering up to 1000 complimentary tickets to local businesses.

The racing industry in the Barwon region generates more than $106 million annually for the Victorian economy and helps to sustain more than 1050 full-time equivalent jobs locally.
