Pyalong Netball And Tennis Ace New Courts

11 May 2023

Players at both the Pyalong Netball Club and Pyalong Tennis Club can now take their game to the next level thanks to the installation of two new courts complete with lighting at Pyalong Recreation Reserve.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Mitchell Shire Council Mayor Fiona Stevens and local clubs to flick the switch and officially launch the new court and lighting upgrades, made possible by a $500,000 investment from the Andrews Labor Government.

The new venue replaces an old asphalt court with two new multi-lined courts complete with improved lighting, a hard court warm up area, rebound wall for practice, netball player and official shelters, spectator seating and storage sheds.

It’s the perfect base for local clubs to build on numbers and host more competitions as well as a space for nearby Pyalong Primary School and community groups to host local events.

This tennis and netball hub is an important precinct for Pyalong locals as well as district communities including Tooborac, Glenaroua and Moranding – with the nearest alternative courts 50 kilometres away.

This project has been funded by the Labor Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund. Since 2014, more than $1.6 billion has been invested in community sport infrastructure across Victoria.

We back local sports infrastructure projects because they are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Mitchell Shire Council also contributed more than $250,000 to the project. For more information about infrastructure grant opportunities go to visit Link .
