Protecting Lives And Property In Clyde North

06 December 2017

The Andrews Labor Government will build a new fire station at Clyde North to improve incident response times and keep the community safe.

Clyde North will benefit from the $3 million land purchase for the new station – to provide better fire protection, suppression and education in the area, and protect the lives and property of the rapidly growing population in Clyde North and the City of Casey.

Minister for Suburban Development, Lily D’Ambrosio today announced a number of new infrastructure projects to be funded from the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) fund at an event in Cranbourne.

A further four critical projects totalling more than $8 million were also announced, including:

  • A $1 million upgrade for Pakenham Railway Station bus interchange and pedestrian access
  • A $3 million land purchase for the future Cranbourne East Railway Station
  • $2.5 million for three relocatable kindergartens in Hume with the third site to be determined
  • And $1.75 million for two relocatable kindergartens in Wyndham.

These critical infrastructure projects add to significant investment from the GAIC fund, which has now committed $165 million to deliver new and improved services and infrastructure across Melbourne’s growth areas.

The fund is a one-off contribution payable by landowners developing land that has been zoned for urban use and development in the local government areas of Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell and Wyndham.

The funding supports Melbourne’s growing communities by contributing to state and regionally significant infrastructure, including ambulance sites, parks, schools and public transport.
