Premier Launches 2015 Australia Day Program

17 January 2015

Premier Daniel Andrews launched Victoria’s diverse and exciting Australia Day program today, marking the beginning of this year’s celebrations.

Australia Day is a great opportunity to celebrate our multiculturalism and the newest members of our community at the many citizenship ceremonies held on January 26.

It’s a time to remember the generosity and courage of our emergency service workers and volunteers, who keep us safe throughout the summer.

It’s also a time to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of our land and to reflect on the tens of thousands of years of their culture and history.

This Australia Day falls during the Centenary of ANZAC. Descendants of those who served in World War One will march down Swanston Street in recognition of the service and sacrifice of so many.

Victoria’s Australia Day program celebrates all of these elements, from the colourful Australia Day Parade and Piers Festival, to celebrations at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Zoo and the Geelong waterfront.
