Police Officers Remembered At State Memorial

03 February 2022

The four Victoria Police Officers who lost their lives in the Eastern Freeway tragedy will be remembered today for their dedication to protecting the Victorian community.

A State Memorial Service will be held at Marvel Stadium to honour Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris.

The night of 22 April 2020 has been ingrained in the minds of all Victorians as a time of immense shock and sadness – for none more so than the four families whose loved ones did not make it home and the wider Victoria Police family, who lost four cherished colleagues.

Today’s service is an opportunity to formally honour their sacrifice and to reflect on their legacies that have touched the hearts of so many Victorians since that tragic night.

At the conclusion of the service, Victoria Police members will form a guard of honour as a mark of respect for their fallen colleagues.

Landmark buildings across our city will be lit up in blue this evening following the State Memorial Service to honour the memories of the four Victoria Police officers.

A livestream of the service will be available to view at vic.gov.au/memorial-victoria-policeExternal Link .
